Gardens in Carmarthenshre
During 2005-2006 Peter Sharp acquired a selection of trees intended to from a mini arboretum in a couple of the fields. Most of the trees grew and are now beginning to mature and offer a glimpse of how the property may look at completion. Since then we have been working on various features and further planting incorporating a wildlife pond, excluding livestock from some areas and using some of our own conifers to good effect. As well as providing an excellent selection of trees and shrubs to propagate from there is the potential to open up the grounds to glamping visitors which would make good use of the improvements to access and pathways that we have started. With this in mind we have begun mapping the areas to keep a track of the plantings and help with planning new highlights which include a picnic area with hut and table on one of the pond’s islands.
The nursery as shown here in 2016 has been very limited in recent years with Covid having a knock-on effect but we have been working on restocking the sales area and are planning to explore a new venture into Japanese Maples but this will take time.
